The GBCA has held consultations with the USAID and representatives of the Cocoa Licensed Buying Companies to explore interventions aimed at Cocoa farmers, their families, and field agents of Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs).
On 16th March 2009, a maiden meeting was held with the COCOBOD, UNAIDS, GAC, LBCs, GTZ and USAID on a proposed project to engage the Cocoa farmers in a BCC project aimed at reducing risky behaviours among the farmers and the agents of the LBCs.
The meeting touched on the necessary structures that needed to be created and modalities for expanding the consultative process within the framework of a Public Private Partnership (PPP). It was agreed that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) at a higher level of responsibility should be involved. |
