There are about 267,069 people infected with HIV in Ghana. The highest infection rate between the ages of 15 to 49 and this represents the segment with the highest productivity in the country. HIV/AIDS has a profound impact on the private sector and the national economy, as 200,000 workers are likely to be infected. Private sector’s potential for action is under-exploited.

HIV/AIDS workplace programmes had remained uncoordinated and lacked sustainable technical support. It is against this background that the Ghana AIDS Commission constituted a Working Group of companies which led to the creation of the Interim Board of the Ghana Business Coalition Against HIV/AIDS.

Our Mandate is to...
Facilitate workplace programs by providing guidelines, strategies and technical resources.
Coordinate the implementation of workplace HIV/AIDS programs and policies among companies.
Enroll and mobilize companies to join the Coalition.
Mobilize resources for the business sector response to HIV/AIDS.
Work with Co-operating Partners to gain exposure.
Build capacity of businesses through research, training & mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation.
Create a platform for sharing best practices and knowledge.
Create a database of workplace HIV/AIDS programs and policies.
Advocate workplace HIV/AIDS related issues and contribute to the achievement of national HIV/AIDS response targets.

Our Vision….
The vision of the GBCA is to mobilize and empower the Ghana Business Community to take effective action on HIV and AIDS in the workplace and beyond.

Our Mission….
In order to mitigate the impact of HIV and AIDS on sustained profitability and economic growth, GBCA will lead:
In establishing a network of high quality information and best practices; and
In the building of sustainable partnerships between the private sector and other stakeholders.
